Reels I'm Currently Working On
For you HS Insider members I'd like to share what content I'm currently working on--what is in the formative stages. I'd love your insights and/or questions
I'm in the research process for a reel on Raw Milk, the upside and the concerns. This was a topic that was #4 of the top 5 from a poll we did asking what people wanted me to address. I actually drink raw milk from a local farm in Idaho, where I live. I love the taste. And you can't buy freshness like this at the grocery store. This milk was still inside a cow within the last 24 hours! It kind of takes me back to my childhood when I spent summers on a dairy farm in Preston, ID. We would drink it chilled, fresh from a milking. So I wanted to know what the concerns are. Why do states regulate or even ban it's sale. The Feds ban it's sale across state lines. I seem to be finding more of a downside, but a lot of my sources at this point are governmental agencies. I am seeking out more sources from proponents on the benefits. After looking at what the science says (being careful to note who funded the research and root out conflicts of interest) I can weigh the risks vs benefits. If it turns out the risks outweigh the benefits, I will be changing my milk drinking habits. I have to be open to that. But boy, is it good. I really want it to be healthy and safe, so I'll need to be careful of my own bias.
I also just recorded a reel on a case study from a patient I just saw yesterday. It's about hormone therapy to treat vaginal dryness specifically. This woman should not still be suffering after 4 years on estradiol treatment. You'll see what I recommended for her to discuss with her prescriber.
I'm also looking at cancer rates along side the increase in glyphosate use in agriculture. Interesting, with a twist. Watch for that in the next few days.
Thanks for being part of this group, where I'll bring you in on the process of creating my content. Got something to contribute? Let's hear it.

The Raw Milk subject is super interesting. My husband and I wanted to start a biz of milk products produced by a specific cow. You could select your cow and the products would be sent to you labeled with the name of your cow. Dreams, Right? I am originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco MX and there are some communities that still consume and prefer raw milk (Leche Bronca). I remember having Pajarete in Tequila, Jalisco. A drink made with Leche Bronca and Mezcal/Tequila, a tonic that is meant to help with vitality. I was young when I had it and apparently it helps kill parasites? I'll ask my parents more about this.
