Latest on Harm From Cell Signals

I just did a quick literature review from the past 3 years on the effects of cell phone and wi-fi signals on the reproductive system of men AND women. I’m on a perpetual hunt to find out what is crashing fertility worldwide and dropping men’s testosterone levels like crazy.  So I always look at threats through the lens of hormones first.

I’ll tell you what I found here in a sec, but think about this: Cell phones and Wi-Fi are everywhere. It’s pretty likely you are in the vicinity of one or the other or both signals 24 hours a day. Sometimes there are a dozen or so wi-fi signals reaching you. And when you think about it, physiology is chemistry, and chemistry is electricity. We showed previously that polyester pants on dogs and humans put a static charge on the skin. In dogs, it appeared to impaired conception. Just keep in mind that static electricity builds up mainly on the surface of the skin, but radio frequency electromagnetic signals combine magnetic fields with electricity and penetrate in waves several centimeters deep in the skin. The lower the frequency, the deeper they penetrate. It’s not really a stretch to think they could influence chemical processes in tissues and organs.

Ok here’s what I found: A 2021 meta-analysis found men with high mobile phone use had lower sperm motility and viability. A 2025 follow-up confirmed this with stronger data — showing significant increases in sperm DNA damage and reduced motility. So, for men, the evidence of harm is getting harder to dismiss as a nutty theory of your crazy aunt. And lest you think you’re past your baby-making years and this doesn’t apply to you, much of the same machinery that’s making those sperm is making your testosterone too. You might want to pay attention here no matter what your age is. And for women, the first large human study was published in 2025 from Iran. They found that longer phone use during pregnancy was linked to higher risk of miscarriage, preterm birth, and abnormal infant growth. Animal studies back this up.  And it doesn’t stop at fertility. That’s just what I focused on. New meta-analyses link heavy, long-term phone use to higher risks of brain tumors. Others suggest effects on mood, sleep, and even DNA damage.

So what are you gonna do? Throw your cell phone away and avoid wi-fi? Probably not. But you can do these things.

  • Keep your phone away from your body — don’t carry it in your pocket or bra. Carry it in a bag if you can. If you have to carry it in your pants pocket, carry it in a back pocket further away from your boys or ovaries or a developing fetus.

  • Use speakerphone or wired earphones rather than bluetooth.

  • Switch to airplane mode when sleeping.

  • Keep routers away from bedrooms, or turn Wi-Fi off at night with a timer.

I think there’s enough data out there to do those simple things.
